Many different things inspire the creation of Michael Ross’s unique Fair Isle designs, nature, artists, history, films and even songs. And Mountain High is no exception.
Mountain High was inspired by the Tina Turner hit of the same name, released in 1988. The theme of love, ever growing and strengthening from river deep to mountain high, is interlaced with analogies and references to the love of a favourite doll, the faithfulness and sweetness of a puppy, how Robins love to sing, and flowers love the spring…
It was from these ideas that Michael Ross’s Mountain High Fair Isle design was conceived, the colours and patterning alluding to the evocative lyrics and passion of the song.
Designed in England and crafted today in 100% Wool by hand knitting machine in our own workshops in, England, our Mountain High Fair Isle design demonstrates Michael Ross’s continuous commitment to original design and top quality materials and construction methods.
